Rant about Beauty

Everybody has their own version of beauty. Some have real life models as a role model for beauty, some hold themselves as models of beauty. But that is not the kind of beauty I am talking about here. Today I want to talk about aesthetic beauty. Before I go on...take a good look at the picture below,

Its a  nice painting isn't it? Most people see nothing beyond it. Hell, today's photographs are wayyy prettier than this painting. But a painting is judged based not only on its beauty.... but also it's significance. For me, a painting is an expression of an artist's conception. It is something he/she ( Go Gender neutrality!) works on for a certain period of time......it is something different because paintings are never produced with the cold hard rationality of science. It is produced based on the artist's mood, his feelings, his thoughts...

That is the effect of great art....they are more than just some colours mixed together, sometimes, they speak to us....artists who are dead for centuries, reach out of the paintings and touch us. It is something good...beautiful.

But paintings are just one part of culture....right now, there are various movies, documentaries , photographs and all that stuff that is art. Beauty is found everywhere, even in the most common of things.....like that floating plastic bag from the movie 'American Beauty'.

Not many young people truly appreciate the beauty in the moment. It is not that they can't.....they just have....more interesting things to do...…..Instagram ,Facebook, Snapchat, friends....those are more important than that one silent moment you are alone in the road ,and you can hear the wind rustling. The likes on Insta of a place you've been to is more important than your visit itself. Somehow, my generation feels that the number of likes on the picture "validates" your visit to that place. People never realize the true beauty of a place

I have this mindset of finding art even in the most grim times. I remember once seeing a very disturbing image of the guts of an animal on the road which was run over, while driving. Though I thought about the death, I remember seeing a very beautiful red flower blooming on the side of the road and thinking to myself, "That's a rare sight!".

Beauty....is such a playful and subjective thing. Some songs that we get hooked to, sound like the most awesome thing and you think to yourself about how you never heard it before. A few days later....baam...it's just another normal song. The transition between "awesome song" to "good song" to "yeah, a song I listen to once in a while" is subtle but happening.

Anyways, this was just another short rant on the nature of beauty. Though my thoughts are deeper than this.....it is just about the nature of things from my perspective. Just felt like sharing my thoughts.

Adios
