War
Hello y'all, 'is been a long time since I last wrote(xD) .Well, this is off the season rant about nothingness and boringness, and how the time passes. I recently re-watched an old classic, "Saving Private Ryan" and watched a new one ( not technically new, but newer compared to the former), "The Hurt Locker". Both these movies are related to war, and given the context that the Russo-Ukrainian War is going on right now, I could relate to those young soldiers out there and I made a lot of insights.
There
is not much background music in both the movies, which aimed to show the raw,
brutal, unfaithfulness of war. I can’t seem to get ahead of the fact that sometimes,
we humans are totally weird and murderous, but other times we are peaceful and
creative. This kind of duality makes me think about who I am and how I should
look at my identity as a human being.
See,
I am not against war or something. Wars are a part of human nature that has been
happening for a long long period of time. Just because we “are woke” and we
have the internet, we aren’t going to stop fighting amongst ourselves.
But wars are undesirable and cause human loss. Which is what I don’t like about it. There were smart and powerful leaders in the past who have gone to war over stupid shit and there were stupid leaders who were able to maintain peace for a long time. History is full of magnificent stories of comedies and tragedies, the valour of soldiers, the folly of the leaders. Nothing escapes it.
Nevertheless, I was transfixed about this one scene in the movie, (spoilers ahead) where they let go of the German prisoner of War…
And
I thought, what a beautiful sky in the background, even in these times of breakdown and destruction
and death. This made me think, these times of hardship, of total chaos and moral
lessness, nature will be as bright, as inspiring , as colourful as it is on the
day when human first left for touching the moon.
In a hundred years,
our descendants will look at this small war, just as passively as emotionless
as they looked at World War I & II. But for us, it is as real as it can
get.
Human beings are crazy species. We are capable of such…intense emotions…and such powerful creative urges that seems us make unhuman. Who knows, in the future, war might be statistically impossible. Our successors might be looking back upon us with supposed confusion over the whole WAR thing which they might define as "People fight people over stupid reasons for conquering imaginary boundaries"
Who knows what would happen in the future. All we can do is hope for the best. That is the end of the small rant lads, have fun!
See ya next time amigos!
